CHEMOPAS Zinc Passivations
Blue passivations (thin layer / thick layer passivations) cobalt containing
CHEMOPAS 2003 HP passivation is chrome-(VI)-free and contains a. o. trivalent chrome compounds and fluorides. Depending on make-up and operation conditions it can be used as high-performance blue passivation or as alternative product to chrome-(VI)-containing yellow chromations (referred to corrosion protection values).
The passivation CHEMOPAS 2003 HP produces intensive and even blue-purple protective layers on electroplated zinc surfaces with a considerably improved corrosion protection compared with conventional systems. Besides this the deposited layer has a very good colour stability at following tempering Steps (approx. 200° C) being used for driving out hydrogen.
CHEMOPAS Blau TOP passivation is chrome-(VI)-free and contains a. o. trivalent chrome compounds and fluorides.
CHEMOPAS Blau TOP can be used as thick layer passivation as well as blue passivation (thin layer). CHEMOPAS Blau TOP produces intensive, even blue-purple protective layers on electroplated zinc surfaces with a considerably improved corrosion protection compared with conventional systems. Besides this the deposited layer has a very good colour stability at following tempering Steps (approx. 200° C) being used for driving out hydrogen.
CHEMOPAS AZUR is a cobalt-containing high-performance based on trivalent chrome and fluorides. Depending on make-up and operation conditions it can be used as blue passivation or as thick layer passivation. Modern iron inhibitors render it possible to minimize the introduction of iron thus providing a exceptionally long service life. Besides that innovative additives are contained improving corrosion protection and temperature stability.
Blue passivations (thin layer / thick layer passivations) cobalt-free
Like CHEMOPAS 2003 HP, but cobalt-free
Like CHEMOPAS Blau TOP, but cobalt-free
Like CHEMOPAS AZUR, but cobalt-free
Yellow passivation
CHEMOPAS YELLOW 22 is a chromium(III)-containing passivation system for zinc layers with exceptionally high corrosion resistance. CHEMOPAS YELLOW 22 creates special passivation layers that provide an excellent base for subsequent sealing.
The zinc surfaces passivated with CHEMOPAS YELLOW 22 are yellow to iridescent without sealing, and shiny yellow with sealing. CHEMOPAS YELLOW 22 does not contain any dye.
CHEMOPAS YELLOW 22 can be operated at room temperature (25°C) and has a high corrosion rate. The gloss, color, and corrosion protection of the coated parts are maintained even after heat treatment.
CHEMOPAS YELLOW 22 is equally suitable for use in rack and barrel installations.
The highest corrosion protection values can be achieved by post-treating the passivation layer with a sealing from the CHEMPALA series.
Black passivations
The black passivation CHEMOPAS ONYX operates on the basis of trivalent chromium compounds and creates black conversion layers on alkaline zinc-plated components, which, in combination with a seal or top coat, provide high corrosion protection.
Depending on the setup and working conditions, CHEMOPAS ONYX can also be used as blue passivation or as thick-layer passivation.
The use of state-of-the-art iron inhibitors minimizes iron entry, allowing for an exceptionally long service life.
For post-treatment, we recommend a seal or top coat from our CHEMPALA series, which enhances the achievable corrosion protection.
The black passivation CHEMOPAS ONYX S operates on the basis of trivalent chromium compounds and creates black conversion layers on acid zinc-plated components.
Advantages:
- Chromium(III) black passivation for zinc
- Dye-free and without chromium(VI) compounds
- Energy-saving due to the low operating temperature
- Usable for acid and cyanide zinc coatings
- High corrosion protection in combination with our seals and top coats
- Suitable for rack and barrel applications
Black coloration
CHEMOPAS 50 SCHWARZ can be used for black passivating electroplated zinc or zinc die cast surfaces. With CHEMOPAS 50 SCHWARZ deep black grip and scratch-resistant layers can be obtained influencing neither the original gloss nor the dimensional accuracy. The colour layers are built up across different colour tones to the final deep black.
CHEMOPAS 50 SCHWARZ is delivered as salt and can easily be handled.
For this post-treatment we recommend a sealer of our CHEMPALA series.
The benefits are:
- the reachable corrosion protection is increased
- a more even appearance with higher brightness can be obtained
Zinc-Nickel Passivations
The passivation CHEMOPAS Ni Transparent is used on electroplated zinc-nickel alloy layers. It creates a uniform transparent, hexavalent chromium-free protective layer with very good corrosion resistance.
CHEMOPAS Ni Transparent contains trivalent chromium compounds and fluorides.
The bath management is done with only one liquid additive.
To improve corrosion resistance, an additional seal or topcoat can be applied. We recommend the products from our CHEMPALA range for this purpose.
CHEMOPAS Ni Blue is a hexavalent chromium-free blue passivation for zinc-nickel alloy layers.
CHEMOPAS Ni Blue contains trivalent chromium compounds and cobalt.
Depending on the alloy composition, bluish to slightly iridescent conversion layers are produced.
A more uniform, glossier appearance is achieved by post-dipping in the seals or top coats from the CHEMPALA range. Additionally, the achievable corrosion protection is increased.
The passivation CHEMOPAS Ni Black is a hexavalent chromium-free black passivation for zinc-nickel.
CHEMOPAS Ni Black contains trivalent chromium compounds and fluorides. It does not contain cobalt or hexavalent chromium compounds.
On zinc-nickel alloy layers, it creates black, slightly iridescent passivation layers. The use of CHEMOPAS Ni Black is combined with a subsequent post-dip solution, organic seal, or top coat.
